On Sunday, June 10, Bishop Larry Silva will lead the annual Corpus Christi procession from the Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa to the Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace.
It's a tradition that Bishop Larry initiated five years ago. Hundreds of local Catholics usually participate in the event, following the bishop as he carries a monstrance with the Holy Eucharist through Kalihi-Palama and downtown. The walk from the St. Theresa to the Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace is about 1.25 miles long.
Held on the Feast of Corpus Christi, the procession begins after a Mass celebrating the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.In 2007, Bishop Larry offered this explanation for the procession:"We, who are his (Jesus') Body, take our faith to the streets to demonstrate that our faith is not only meant to be lived inside the church, but it is to transform society, to bring it healing and reconciliation."Will you be joining the eucharistic procession on Sunday?
