Attach Great Importance to your Brown Scapular

The painting of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is by Pietro Novelli and is from the Blue Army Shrine, Washington, New Jersey.

The following is from The World Apostolate of Fatima's Spiritual Guide for the Salvation of Souls and World Peace.

"Whosoever dies clothed in this scapular shall not suffer eternal fire."
- Mary's Promise to St. Simon Stock, July 16, 1251

"Wear it devoutly and perseveringly," Our Lady of Mount Carmel says to each soul, "it is my garment.  To be clothed in it means you are continually thinking of me, and I in turn, am always thinking of you and helping you to secure eternal life."

"It is especially in time of temptation that we need the powerful intercession of God's Mother.  The evil spirit is utterly powerless when a scapular wearer, besides his silent devotion, faces temptation calling upon Mary."

"...The scapular is a sign that its wearer is committed to living the Christian life after the perfect example of the Blessed Virgin Mary." - Father Barry Bossa

Mary's Spiritual Motherhood

"Mary's Motherhood is not limited to Catholics; it is extended to all people.  Many miracles of conversion have been wrought in favor of good non-Catholics who practiced the scapular devotion.

"I wanted to know if Mary really and truly interested herself in me, and in the scapular she has given me the most tangible assurance. I have only to open my eyes. She has attached her protection to this scapular: 'Whosoever dies clothed in this shall not suffer eternal fire.'"  - St. Claude de la Colombiere

Third Apparition of Our Lady July 13, 1917

Picture:  Salvatore Dali's Picture of Hell, Blue Army Shrine, Washington, NJ

The following is from the World Apostolate of Fatima's Spiritual Guide for the Salvation of Souls and World Peace.

"Sacrifice yourselves for sinners, and say many times, especially whenever you make some sacrifice:  O Jesus, it is for love of Thee, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary."

The following are words by Sr. Lucia.

"As Our Lady spoke these last words, she opened her hands once more, as she had done during the two previous months.  The rays of light seemed to penetrate the earth, and we saw as it were a sea of fire.  Plunged in this fire were demons and souls in hum an form, like transparent burning embers, all blackened or burnished bronze, floating about int he conflagration, now raised into the air by the flames that issued from within themselves together wit great clouds of smoke, now falling back on every side like sparks in huge fires, without weight or equilibrium, amid shrieks and groans of pain and despair, which horrified us and made us tremble with fear.  (It must have been this sight which caused me t cry out, as people say t hey heard me.)

The demons could be distinguished by their terrifying and repellent likeness to frightful and unknown animals, black and transparent like burning coals.  Terrified and as if to plead for succor, we looked up at Our Lady, who said to us, so kindly and so sadly:

"You have seen hell where the souls of poor sinners go. To save the, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart.  If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace.

ACN-USA News: On October 18, one million children will pray rosary for peace!

On October 18, one million children will pray rosary for peace!

AID TO THE CHURCH IN NEED (ACN) is issuing an open invitation to participate in an extraordinary event taking place on October 18: “One Million Children Praying the Rosary”. We talked about this prayer initiative with Father Martin Barta, the Spiritual Assistant of ACN International.

What is this prayer campaign about and when was it started?

The idea for the campaign came about in 2005 in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela. While a number of children were praying the rosary at a wayside shrine, several of the women in attendance strongly felt the presence of the Virgin Mary.

They immediately thought of Saint Padre Pio’s promise: “When one million children pray the rosary, the world will change.” And that is exactly what this is all about: having faith in the power of children’s prayers. After all, Jesus teaches us: “Except ye … become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven” (Mt. 18:3).

How can people join in the campaign?

Quite simply: we are inviting teachers, priests, kindergarten teachers and parents to pray the rosary together with children on October 18 for peace and unity in the world. ACN has instructional materials on the prayers of the rosary, posters and a letter of invitation for children and adults.

Why the 18th of October?

October is traditionally the month of the rosary; the 18th is the feast day of Saint Luke the Evangelist. He has handed on to us the story of Jesus’s childhood and, according to tradition, is said to have been close to Our Lady, the Mother of God. Therefore, the date is quite fitting.

Why has AID TO THE CHURCH IN NEED gotten involved in this prayer campaign?

We not only see ourselves as a pastoral charity, but also as a prayer community. Our founder, Father Werenfried van Straaten, deeply venerated Our Lady of Fatima. There, the Virgin Mary proclaimed to the visionary children, “Pray the rosary every day, in order to obtain peace for the world.”

The daily project work that carried out by ACN in 149 countries allows the organization to see first-hand just how greatly Christians and the entire world are suffering from the effects of terrorism and war.

Only God can bring peace. We can play a part in this – through our work, but first and foremost through our prayers.

Do you receive reports from the world church on how many children take part?

Our materials for the prayer campaign are available in 25 languages, including, for example, Arabic and the West African Hausa language. Children from around 80 countries and on all continents are taking part. Accounts of the events are frequently sent to ACN, over the past year we received reports from countries such as Argentina, Cuba, Cameroon, India and the Philippines. It is truly a campaign of the world church!

Children and the rosary: this is not an easy connection to make for the churches in our part of the world. How do you get young people excited about these prayers?

I believe that it is actually the other way around: children are far more open to the rosary than a lot of adults. When the rosary is prayed correctly and under proper guidance, it reveals a view of the Virgin Mary, one that grows more intimate the longer you pray the rosary. This intimate view of Our Lady is something that we can learn from the children!

In order to celebrate with dignity the centennial of the Apparitions of Fatima, by mandate of Pope Francis, a Jubilee Year is granted, with the inherent plenary indulgence, from the 27th of November 2016 till the 26th of November 2017.
The plenary indulgence of the jubilee is granted:

b) To the pious faithful who visit with devotion an image of Our Lady of Fatima, solemnly displayed to public veneration in any temple, oratory or adequate place, on the anniversary days of the apparitions (the 13th of each month, from May to October 2017), and who devotedly participate there in some celebration or prayer in honor of the Virgin Mary, pray the ‘Our Father’, recite the symbol of the faith (Creed) and invoke Our Lady of Fatima;
c) To the faithful who, due to their age, illness or another serious cause, are hindered of moving, if repented of all their sins and with the firm intention to carry out, as soon as it will be possible to them, the three conditions indicated below, in front of a small image of Our Lady of Fatima, on the days of the apparitions, joining spiritually the jubilee celebrations, offering with confidence to the merciful God through Mary their prayers and pains, or the sacrifices of their own life.
In order to obtain plenary indulgences, the faithful who are truly repentant and filled with charity must fulfill the following ritual conditions: sacramental confession, Eucharistic communion and prayer for the intentions of the Holy Father.
